BULLS GO DEEP EARLY AND OFTEN TO BEAT KNIGHTS
Darnell McDonald led off the Bulls half of the first inning with a home run and Durham never looked back as the Bulls took the final and deciding game of the three-game set, 11-6 on Sunday evening at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Bulls scored two in the first inning on McDonald and Wes Bankston's solo home runs, four in the second inning on Luis Ordaz's Grand-Slam and another pair of runs on Joel Guzman's sixth inning shot. All told, eight of the team's 11 runs came via the long ball. Six Durham Bulls had multi-hit games, including three-hit nights for McDonald, Ordaz and Rodney Nye. Josh Fields led the Knights with three hits including a double and a home run.
LHP Mike Prochaska (1-2), just up from Double-A, picked up the win pitching five and one-third innings allowing five runs on nine hits and six strike outs. LHP Valerio De Los Santos (1-1) took the loss allowing seven runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks in three innings.
The Toledo Mud Hens come to town on Monday for a two-game set with the Bulls at 7:00 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com or by phone at (919) 956-BULL.
