MUD HENS SLAM BULLS 6-4
Danny Klassen hit a grand slam to highlight a six-run third inning as the Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Durham Bulls 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Mud Hens captured three games in the four game series.
With the Mud Hens leading 1-0 in the third inning and the bases loaded, Klassen slammed a 3-2 pitch from RHP Jason Standridge (0-2) just inside the left field foul pole. Toledo would add one more run in the inning to account for all of their scoring. Tom Evans went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Hiram Bocachica added two hits, a run scored and an RBI.
LHP Andy Van Hekken (3-5) picked up the win after allowing three runs (earned) and seven hits over seven innings. He struck out two and walked none. RHP Fernando Rodney registered his eighth save with a perfect ninth inning.
Gabby Martinez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored for the Bulls. Chris Truby hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and Ryan Jackson went 2-for-4 with his fourth triple of the season.
Standridge took the defeat after giving up six runs (five earned) and ten hits over four innings. He struck out two and walked two. RHP Delvin James pitched four scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit.
