BULLS CLAIM SECOND STRAIGHT TO WRAPUP SERIES WITH SYRACUSE, 6-2

Chris Richard and Dustan Mohr put the Bulls ahead early with two-run home runs and Andy Sonnanstine (1-0) and the Bulls bullpen shut down the Chiefs for a 6-2 victory on Easter Sunday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Mohr reached base on a force out in the first inning, then Richard brought him home with a towering home run over the right field wall to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead. After a quiet second inning, the Bulls got to Chiefs right-hander Ty Taubenheim (0-1) again in the third. Elliot Johnson led the inning off with a single and Mohr immediately followed with a home run. Richard doubled and moved to third when Jorge Cantu grounded out, and was then brought home when first baseman Dustan Mohr hit a single to left field to give the Bulls an early 5-0 lead. Joel Guzman scored the Bulls sixth and final run when he attempted to steal third base. Chiefs catcher Curtis Thigpen's throw to third sailed into left field, allowing the Bulls' third baseman to score.
Sonnanstine did well in his Triple-A debut, retiring the side in four of the six innings he pitched. He gave up just two hits, one earned run and one walk, while striking out eight to pick up his first win of the year. Seth McClung pitched two perfect innings in relief.
The game concluded the series with Syracuse, with each team winning twice.
The Bulls homestand continues Monday night at 7 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Pawtucket Red Sox (3-1) will be coming to take on the Bulls for a four game series. For tickets, go to www.durhambulls.com or call the box office at (919) 956-BULL.
