Swing For The Cure

For the third year in a row, the Durham Bulls will host Swing for the Cure to raise awareness about breast cancer and funds for the NC Triangle Affiliate of Komen for the Cure. Players will wear pink jerseys that game that will be available for an on-line auction for one week, beginning on the day the jerseys are worn, Sunday April 13th. Additionally, prior to the game, breast cancer survivors will be invited to the field to make a 'human pink ribbon' to show support for the cause. In addition, children 12 and under traditionally run the bases for free after Sunday games, and on this particular Sunday survivors will be able to join them.
Those interested in participating in the human ribbon before the game should contact Neil Solondz of the Bulls at 687-6528. Participants should be at the ballpark by the home dugout no later than 4:20 p.m. in order to participate.
"This is certainly a unique way to bring attention to breast cancer," Durham Bulls Manager Mike Birling said. "All of us know someone who has been affected by some form of cancer and we are committed to help raise money and awareness."
Fans can purchase a special game ticket for $10, with $4 going to the Komen NC Triangle Affiliate. To purchase tickets for the Sunday April 13th game, please click here.
